Its March 15th and almost 80 degrees here in Central Indiana.
No one saw it coming.
So we're sporting shorts and watching the buds on the trees open overnight.
We're also passing around viruses like its no body's business....those
winter temps just didnt get low enough to kill the bugs off.
So, while the boys are in heaven playing outside, Luci is on the couch nursing a 102 fever
and wicked cough. Poor little lady.
A day like today calls for a cool treat. I just happen to have over 8 lbs of tart cherries left from last July when we picked them up in Traverse City where my folks live (aka The Cherry Capital). In the heat of the summer, we often put frozen fruit in the food processor with a little lemon juice for a quick and healthy (and yummy) sorbet. It occurred to me that with a little honey to cut the tartness, the cherries might be delish that way.
Indeed. A score for those who sweat from hard play or fevers alike.
Not to mention the mama who takes care of them all.
Tart Cherry Sorbet
4 C tart cherries, partially thawed
2 Tbs. of honey (or to taste)
pinch of salt
Blend in food processor until consistent in texture. Beware of random pits:)
