We went to "Touch a Truck" the other day at the park.....Jonas was in heaven. Any kind of truck you can think of to climb on, honk, sit in, and drool over (if you're a boy).
Our little boy will soon be five- which is downright crazy. Even crazier to think about is the fact that he will one day be a man, a leader, a husband and father perhaps. Maybe a firefighter:)
We've been thinking about how to make his birthday special. He's asked for a few things, mostly of the violent warrior variety: swords, guns, helmets, light sabers....
Surprisingly, he also asked for a new "real" bible (not a kid variety with pictures, but with the genuine text).
So after praising God that he actually asked for a bible for his birthday, we got to thinking. Our prayer for him is that he would be a strong boy, and then man of faith. And he does need armor to become just that.
" Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
....take up the shield of faith....
the helmet of salvation...
and the sword of the spirit...which is the word of God."
Eph. 6:13-17
We're going to get him that new sword, helmet, and shield. What a perfect way to remind him of the protection the Lord gives us. And we cant wait to hand him a new bible and read the above passage from Ephesians with him. We can give our child good gifts, but how much better are the gifts from God!
And then we're throwing in this too....because it fits and he loves music!
(I encourage you to check out the Seeds website. SUCH a great ministry!)
