A little over a week ago, the kids and I headed to the zoo with my friend Cary and
her wee one, Henrik. It turned out the be a bit of a nightmare, since we had to share
the zoo with every school field trip in the state. We ended up leaving early with crabby
kids. On the way home, Cary had the brilliant idea of stopping to visit her hubby at work,
which ended up redeeming the entire day for my kids. David works for the city communications
department (maybe public works actually) and he showed us around. They let the kids climb
into the huge communications van that is used for all sorts of operations around the city. Jonas
was thrilled to say the least. Then, when they offered to take us around the block with
the lights and sirens on, he almost had a heart attack.

Cary and Henrik. Apparently, Henrik was bored with whatever I was saying. Sweet little man.
