Its been a beautiful week here in Indiana. Last week too. We've been outside for the most part, only coming inside to crash for naps. Lunches and dinner in the backyard, folks over for dinner, bikes and sidewalk chalk...its a good life. Not perfect or always easy, but good.
Every week when I arrive at my shift at the hospital, I am reminded of another reality. One that makes my life look like a Norman Rockwell painting. Young girls having babies, almost always unmarried, and often without support from the father. Many of them hurting because of drug use, abuse, unstable families. Many of them without hope. More often that not, I hear them hoping that the little baby they hold will bring them the satisfying life they want.
I hope with them that having a child will turn them around, give them a holy mission in life. Sadly, the cycles just keep going....and the stories get harder and harder to hear and see.
So why bring all of this up on my happy blog? When we think of our life, our children, all that we have, we are overwhelmed. It is only by the grace of God that our stories are not like those I described above. Lavish grace has been poured out.
We continue to wonder how God might use our family in His purposes....
we wonder if He is calling us to adopt,
or be foster parents,
or begin mentoring again.
We wonder how messy it will get too. But we're pretty sure there will be great joy too if thats where He leads....
Please take a few minutes and read this article. Let your heart break with ours for the needs around us. There is great brokenness, but we know a great Redeemer!

thank you for sharing this. it is heart breaking to see so many kids hurting and looking for someone to just love them, love them just for who they are. my hubby worked in a group home for boys who had gone from abused to abuser for years while we were up north and sometimes his stories were so much more than my heart could take or fathom. life isn't pretty for many and it is a huge reminder to count my MANY blessings. thanks for reminding us and to give our babies an extra squeeze!
