After almost 3 months of renovations, our remodeling project is coming to an end and we're enjoying our new bathroom! As you can see, we've come a long way since my last post where they had the rooms down to the studs. Lucilles' room is now more of a nursery nook than a room, but its very cozy and accomodates her funiture just fine. The picture with the sinks in it used to be part of the nursery actually, so you can see how much we took from that room. I'll post some pictures of the smaller nursery in the web album. At the far end of the bathroom by the window, there is a door to a linen closet of sorts, which was initially there. We changed the orientation of the door and added shelves too for extra storage and finally a place for blankets, suitcases, and the like. The middle picture shows the built-in cabinet (which still needs some sanding and more paint and latches) and also the cubbies next to the shower. I love the cubbies. The bottom picture shows the toliet and shower/tub area. That entire area was the space we had for our old bathroom. The original door was next to the toliet, there was a tiny sink in the walk area, and a small corner tub. There was also a small door to the little closet. It was close quarters to say the least.
We tried to give the bathroom an early 1900's feel out of respect for our old house and its wonderful character. We were able to find pedestal sinks designed with an arts and crafts/bungalow style and we did the subway tile which our downstairs bath also has. We're really happy with how it turned out. Thanks Jeff Dodd and crew for doing a great job!
This past weekend the Estle crew gathered for our Christmas celebration. It was so great that all three girls could use the bathroom at the same time! Not to mention that we had plugs (which the old bathroom lacked.) We're so thankful for our new family bath!
