To the north country and back

Yes, I know its been too long since the last post, but I have an excuse. Well two excuses- they are cute, but don't leave much time for blogging these days. Anyway, onto the blog itself...

We spent most of last week in Michigan with a short visit in Bremen with the Rader clan. We had a great time. I wont lie, the car riding was less than fun, and by the end of the week our precious toddler was a lunatic. But all in all, we enjoyed ourselves. The first stop was to Grandpa and Grandma Rader's, where we dropped off Mocha and where Luci got to meet her great-grandparents. Jonas loves Grandpa and Grandma Raders. One, they have several very cool balls, and two, they have moo-cows. Not to mention Grandpa and Grandma themselves who are always a BIG hit and who give him ice cream.

On Saturday we headed up the Holland Michigan and spent some time with the Laburns, our dear friends who live a miserable life less than a mile from the beach. We took the kids to the "big lake" and I was glad to be reunited with one of my favorite places on earth. That evening, Meri and I (with Luci) headed over to Grand Rapids for a surprise birthday party for Tegan Lewis.

Sunday (Father's Day) we packed the car again the headed to Grampie and Gramie Estle's rental home. They found a great place to live in while building their house on Lake Leelenau. Thankfully, it has a couple of extra bedrooms so we were quite comfortable! We spent Sunday in Sutton's Bay with them, again thoroughly enjoying ourselves!

Monday we drove over to Mackinaw Island. Our friend Nick was one of the two island doctors for 2 weeks there, so the Minnaar crew got to live up the island life during his rotation. Unfortunately, the day we visited was unbearably hot and humid. We enjoyed the visit with friends, but didnt end up touring much of the island. By the end of the day, Jonas was a mess...as you can see from the photo of us by the ferry!

The rest of the week was spent relaxing and enjoying northern Michigan. We took naps, walks, and AJ and I even got a date in. We got to check out all the plans for Dad and Becky's house and cant wait to enjoy their permanent residence soon! (Boy are we spoiled to have them moving to a resort town!)

Check out more pictures from the trip on the new link to the right...web albums...
