Once again our family gathers near michigan city. What once was a post-Christmas chance to get together in a place with enough rooms has morphed into a beginning of the year reunion. People are trickling in from what constitutes our family's directional triad: NW, E & SE. This place has plenty of rooms, a pool, wireless internet and a waffler at breakfast -- what more could we want. I think we counted it up a few years ago and determined we had been coming to this particular hotel
on the first weekend after new years for about 12 years. The family has grown through marriage and births in the past 6 years, bringing a new twist to the dynamics. For example: the littlest in the next generation is already in bed while the youngest of the generation above hasn't arrived yet. His loss since grandma's cookies have already been broken into.
